Find Running Races

I've recently started using a new race finding directory. Bookmark this link fo the next time you're trying to find any Running Races . I was looking for a marathon and this site allowed me to search by State and find one in the area I was looking for.

I actually ended runningthe Chicago Marathon. This turned out to be a great experience and I would certainly recommend this race to anyone looking to run a big city marathon.

One of the nice things about running the Chicago marathon is the ease with which the athletes can get to the start and finish area of the race. There are dozens of hotels, which must have thousands of rooms all with walking distance of the marathon start and finish area. I don’t usually think about this sort thing when picking out running races but for running races of this magnitude it can become a logistical nightmare trying to get the start of the race when there are tens of thousands of other runners trying to accomplish the same goal.  Running races are point-to-point type running routes seem to compound this problem. Take the Boston Marathon for instance. Despite this running races superior organization and history of putting on a world-class race for runners it is still a big ordeal getting to the start of the run in Hopkington on Marathon Morning. This is likely one of the reasons that the Boston Marathon starts so much later in the day than running races of similar types.

Wow. I can realy get off on a tangent can't I?

So the Chicago Marathon was a great experience and turned put to be one of the most memorable running races of my life. I didn't run a PR but I still managed to put in good effort on this fast running course. The other runners and race spectators also contributed significantly to this event. There's something magical about finishing  26.2 mile race running as fast as you can to the finish line with a huge supportive crowd to bring in all the runners.

I kind if need to roll but I wanted to the ball rolling- so to speak.

I'd love to hear about other runners racing experiences.
